The Chinese calendar has a twelve-year cycle and names each cycle after an animal. This year's festival falls on January 29. It is the Year of the Dog.Chinese legend holds that Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on New Year's Day and named a year after each of the twelve animals that came. Buddha then proclaimed that those born in the animal's year would absorb some of that animal's traits.

Relembrando a minha estadia em terras coreanas, e tendo em conta que a comunidade Budista ainda era relevante, tenho uma certa curiosidade em saber se neste Ano Do Cão os restaurantes coreanos vão retirar dos seus menús os cãezinhos estufados... Talvez seja a altura para escolherem outro animal de estimação para os seus pratos...
